An Urban Reflection


I’m currently working on a project called An Urban Reflection, with an up and coming urban curator Nahla Tabbaa.

An Urban Reflection is a non-profit community arts residency programme inviting artists to connect with different areas of the city, addressing social, economical, environmental and architectural issues, through a number of contact activities. Artists are encouraged to take the necessary steps to ensure that the works are a collaborative and community inclusive effort. Through research, conversations and walking through the city, they are able to connect with their context on a more intimate level, and the site-specific works produced will be more relevant and impactful.

Art should not be limited to the boundaries of galleries and museums, rather it should be embedded in the everyday fabric of life and should be delivered to a wider spectrum of the population. Artists should be able to play a role in social development and use their creative thought processes when addressing challenges in the urban environment and the everyday.
